Rice's Newsletter - Spring 2019

From the President

Bryan Rice, President of Rice's LandscapingIt’s almost here! The busiest, and frankly, most exciting time of the year for Rice’s is right around the corner with the coming of spring.

I’m often asked just what it is our crew does when not involved with snow and ice occurrences this time of year and the answer to me is pretty simple. We’re preparing for spring. But it’s not just materials and equipment maintenance that need checked off our prep list. The training of our crews is top priority. Whether that means bringing new hires up to speed or reevaluating the training of our veteran staff, a considerable amount of time and energy goes into ensuring we’re prepared to offer you the “Rice’s Way” of landscaping. What is the “Rice’s Way?” Well, just as your landscape is an ever-changing ecosystem, our approach to your landscape maintenance needs must change right along with it. We are constantly analyzing and evolving our best practice methods to better serve you, our client. But you aren’t just a client. We consider each relationship a partnership. We want to partner with you to ensure we’re meeting or exceeding your landscape goals. That means open communication and timeliness are key. Meeting with your Account Manager before April as noted below in our Spring Cleanup section is imperative to the success of this year’s landscape maintenance season. And I hope you take that opportunity to tell us what you think! Let us know what worked well but also what changes or improvements need made. This meeting is an opportunity for us to listen to your feedback and adjust our plan to better serve our partnership with you. That’s the “Rice’s Way” and it’s our commitment.

Thank you for your confidence and continued support of us here at Rice’s. Please let me know if you have a question or comment. You can reach me by email at [email protected] or by calling 330-499-9857. I’d be happy to hear from you.

Now get outside and breathe some fresh air!

Sincerely,
- Bryan Rice

Don't you think it's time to lighten up?

LED landscape lighting lights up the front of a houseIf you’re looking to bring life and depth to the architecture and landscape of your home, LED landscape lighting might be just what you need. Properly designed landscape lighting complements foundation planting, highlights home features, and creates interest along pathways, steps, and drives, not to mention the added security to your home at night.

Outdoor Landscape Lighting

Rice’s designs feature low maintenance LED fixtures that use a fraction of the wattage of incandescent fixtures, but with the same warm, welcoming glow. When paired with an astrological timer, your system will automatically adjust to daylight savings time without you needing to lift a finger. We install a wide variety of fixture styles and colors, many offering a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty. If you’re ready to lighten up your landscape, contact your designer for more detail or visit our website to request a quote for landscape lighting.

Featured Service - Spring Cleanup

Featured service - spring cleanup

With spring comes spring cleaning and new beginnings. As a full-service maintenance client, expect our maintenance crews back on your property as soon as the winter weather breaks. We’ll clear away winter leaves and debris, prune where necessary, edge plant beds, and install fresh mulch to have your landscape looking its absolute best.

  • Have a landscaping project you’ve been putting off?
  • Are there changes you’d like to see made to your property?
  • Any upcoming events that require a sprucing up?

If you haven’t heard from us already, expect a call from your account manager to schedule a spring walk around your property. The spring walk around is an excellent time to discuss these plans with your account manager. And the sooner the better. April and May are the busiest time of year for our crews and our schedule is filling up fast. Early preparation is key to ensuring we can deliver exceptional results to you throughout the year.

It’s an exciting time of year here at Rice’s and we look forward to serving all your landscaping needs.

Rice's & Boy Scouts - Proud Partnership

Bryce Stallman of Boy Scout Troop 12

Rice’s is proud to have partnered with Bryce Stallman of Boy Scout Troop 12 of Faith United Methodist Church for his Eagle Scout Project. The project was to create an outdoor classroom/learning lab for Northwood Elementary School located North of Applegrove Street. Kevin Rice, Vice President of Rice’s Landscapes Redefined, coached Bryce on design, material requirements, and job sequencing, and helped him acquire material donations. We think it turned out great, Bryce!

Rice's would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both Mathie Supply and Site One Landscape Supply for their generous donations to the project.
