Training for the "Rice's Way"

Continuing Education at Rice'sHere at Rice’s, ongoing job training is the cornerstone component of maintaining the area’s premier landscape installation and maintenance workforce. And that doesn’t just mean bringing new hires up to speed. We’re constantly analyzing and evolving our methods, from new crew members to veteran managers, to best serve our client’s specific needs, while keeping an ever-present focus on safety.

This winter, we made a concerted effort to refresh, and in some cases update, several training areas. Whether that meant expanding on best practices, creating new curriculum, or updating images, we’re proud of the effort staff from all areas of the company put in to ensure Rice’s is providing consistent, focused training among all employee levels.

And we can’t overlook our exceptional training facilities. Finished in early 2018, the Phoenix Room—so dubbed because it now stands on the site of a 2017 garage fire—boasts pull-down screens, high-tech ceiling mounted projectors and speakers, and enough room to accommodate more than 100 employees. We’ve already hosted OSHA trainings, management and leadership training, employee recognitions, quarterly company breakfasts, and a holiday party, with plans for much more.

We are pleased to announce that as of Spring 2019, Rice’s will offer a National Association of Landscape Professionals accredited apprenticeship program that can be completed in as little as one year. Details will be publicized in a future press release. Interested parties can contact Rice’s Human Resource Generalist by calling 330-499-9857.
